TWO teenage girls riding a motorcycle died at 1 a.m. this morning in Mae Sot town after they jumped the traffic lights at an intersection and were badly hit by a pickup truck, Thai News Agency said today (Feb.5) .
Police found ten other teenagers who had followed the two dead girls for a night on the town but did not jump the lights crying and some even fainting at the scene of the accident.
Initial investigation revealed that the two dead girls, Miss Mew and Miss Na, both 16 years old, had invited their friends to go to an entertainment venue in Mae Sot town but as it was shut they led their friends to another one.
Upon reaching this intersection, at kilometer 8 of Mae Sot-Tak highway, Miss Mew jumped the lights even though her friends warned her not to.
They were hit by a Khamphang Petch-registered pickup truck driven by Nonthaphat Chirasakchaikul, 30, who was uninjured but in a state of shock about 200 meters away from the spot where the accident occurred.
