Tesco Lotus giving away free black T-shirts

TESCO Lotus together with the Department of Internal Trade is giving away 55,000 free black T-shirts to the general public to wear in mourning for the late His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej at all its 109 branches nationwide, Thai News Agency said today.

Salinla Seehaphan, Tesco Lotus’ corporate affairs director, said the hypermarket chain has increased the amount of black and white garments sold at its branches to adequately meet the public’s needs and has ordered an additional two million such shirts to sell at a starting price of 89 baht.

However Tesco Lotus has found that some Thais might not be able to buy enough black and white clothes to wear every day during the mourning and for this reason linked up the Department of Internal Trade to give away 55,000 black T-shirts through its various branches nationwide.

The giveaway starts on Monday October 24, 2016 at nine branches in Bangkok and after that will spread out to the provinces in all regions. The schedule is to distribute free black T-shirts at 40 branches on November 4, 2016 and at another 60 branches on November 11, 2016.
