A MAJOR crime drive in Pattaya netted several Thai and foreign prostitutes with two drug dealers and some teenage users also rounded up, INN News said today (Sept. 28).
Pol. Maj. Gen. Surachet Hakphan, acting deputy chief of Tourist Police, said he mounted this crime drive which was also participated by officers from other units for the peace of mind of foreign tourists.
Police teams spread out to clear prostitutes from Pattaya City and Jomtien beaches as well as the Walking Street in South Pattaya and arrested 36 Thai women, 6 transsexuals and 19 foreign women on prostitution charges.
These same police teams also raided many targeted areas and succeeded in arresting two dealers of crystal methamphetamine (Ice) while 11 teenagers were caught taking this drug.
Meanwhile Pattaya Tourist Police arrested three Cambodian youths, La, 20, Loy, 19 and Mod, 18, for attempting to extort money from a Russian tourist at Koh Larn.
Police said the three Cambodian suspects were working as waiters at a Koh Larn restaurant and the reason they tried to extort cash was because they were short of funds.
