IN the wake of the attack in London where five people were killed and about 40 injured by what British police believe was an act of Islamist-inspired terrorism, Thai police today (March 23) stepped up security across the country as a precaution, Thai News Agency said.
Pol Col Krisna Pattanacharoen, deputy police spokesman, said police across the country have been ordered to increase supervision and frequency of their rounds of embassies, consulates, hotels and guesthouses, areas where people generally gather and tourist destinations popular with foreigners.
The Immigration Bureau has also been instructed to more strictly check people entering the country.
The liaising by all police and security units and foreign news sources has not shown any movements that impact Thailand but security is being stepped up as a precaution and to boost confidence.
