POLICE, soldiers and airport officials are maintaining tight security at all key airports in Thailand as New Year holiday returnees travel back to Bangkok and various other destinations, INN News reported today (Dec. 3)

Pol. Maj. Gen. Surachet Hakphan, acting deputy chief of Tourist Police,  checked the readiness of Don Mueang Airport to receive a huge influx of returnees and tourists.

While urging taxi drivers to be good hosts, he also warned them that those not using meters or refusing to take passengers to their destination face revocation of their driving license, with this being done in cooperation with the Land Transport Department.

Those who run into trouble with taxi drivers may call Tourist  Police hotline at 1155.

Pol. Maj. Gen. Surachet added that the situation overall seems fine, especially at airports, with theft being a key issue  focused on and this has to be stamped out.

However there is tight security all key airports, among which are Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Phuket, Khon Kaen, Don Mueang and Suvarnabhumi.
