Tight security for tomorrow’s verdict

POLICE are fully ready to ensure peace and order around the Supreme Court and Chaeng Wattana Road tomorrow (August 25) when the verdict on the rice-pledging case against former prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra is handed down, Thai News Agency said today.

Meanwhile Ms Yingluck stayed quietly in her house today but posted a message to her fan club on Facebook to not come to the court to give her moral support tomorrow because security has been so arranged that they would be in different areas and for this reason to follow the news at home.

Pol. Col. Mana Phaochuay, head of Thung Song Hong police station, said security measures around  the Supreme Court’s Criminal Division for Political Office Holders will be extra stringent tomorrow with warning signs put up to behave properly.

Metal barriers will also be placed to block off restricted area and behind them will be the riot police.

There will also be a checkpoint to prevent those not concerned from going into Building A.

Pol. Col. Mana urged those coming to give Ms Yingluck moral support to allow officials to do their duty and not block the court officials.

The public was asked to avoid using Chaeng Wattana road from Laksi intersection till Pakret in Nonthaburi tomorrow if possible.
