A man from Iran and his wife from Russia were visiting Pattaya when they decided to go swimming in the ocean at night. They left all their belongings on the beach, but when they returned everything was gone. The Pattaya Police in Chonburi Province were notified by tourists in the early hours of 30 July 2019 about the incident.
The tourists were swimming in Dongtan Beach, Jomtien. When the police arrived they discovered the couple who seemed to be very stressed out. Saojad 36 years old from Iran and his Russian wife stated to the police that they were sitting on the beach when they decided to go for a night swim. The couple left all their belongings on the beach and when they returned everything was gone. Their belongings included 1 phone, 1,000 THB cash, a room key, and more.
A Thai citizen nearby named Nawin 25 years old stated to the police that he works at the Dongtan Beach renting safety swim vests to tourists. He saw the couple walking and sitting down on the beach for a while. Not long after a teenage boy came to sit on the beach near the couple. The tourists then went swimming on the beach at night.
When they returned, all their belongings were gone and so was the teenage boy. He can’t confirm if the teenage boy stole the items as it was dark outside and he couldn’t see if the boy carried the tourist’s belongings away with him when he was leaving the beach. He remembered that the teenage boy drove away on a Honda Motorbike, but he can’t remember the color or the license plate. The police are investigating the case, security footage from the surrounding areas have been called in to search for the suspect.
