HUNDREDS of thousands of northeasterners crammed into trains, buses and private vehicles as the “exodus” back to Bangkok after a long Songkran holiday began before dawn today (April 16), the Thai-language daily Thai Rath reported.
Most of the passengers work in Bangkok and outlying areas where manufacturing companies are located.
The State Railway of Thailand, airlines and bus companies have increased the frequency of their services until April 18.
Songkran is the most auspicious event for both the northeastern and northern people in Thailand.
