Justice Minister Somsak Thepsuthin said yesterday (Jan 30, 2020) that he will submit a proposal to expand all prisons throughout the country from one to two-storey high, INN News reported.
With the expansion, prisons will be able to receive 80,000 more inmates, while reducing the current overcrowding.
Also under discussion is the possibility of using an electronic tag fitted above the ankle for inmates as part of their bail or probation condition.
