US Army soldiers join cave search

A TEAM of 10 US Army soldiers moved in at 3.25 a.m. to inspect the large cave in northern Chiang Rai province where 12 young soccer players and their coach have been missing since last Saturday with the all night rain forcing a change of the rescue plan, Thai News Agency reported this morning (June 28, 2018).

The American soldiers are holding a meeting to work out a new rescue plan and are checking information to immediately help the youngsters and their coach who have been in Tham Luang-Khun Nam Nang Non cave since last Saturday.

The rescue operation had to be briefly halted at 2.33 a.m. for everyone’s safety because the driving rain increased the water level so high there was a danger that the electricity flow would be cut off.

Yesterday there was hope that the lost young soccer players and their coach would be soon found because the pumping out of water had started to show result. However the continuous rain again raised it higher.

The sky over the cave was heavily overcast this morning and the rain, which started in the middle of last night, has not stopped. Rescuers who had to pull out from the cave are wearing raincoats and are ready to move in and continue their rescue work as soon as it is possible to do so.
