Wisanu: Election not being put off to April 28

DEPUTY Prime Minister Wisanu Kruea-ngarm said this afternoon (Oct. 3, 2018) there are no signs that the election is being postponed from February 24 to April 28 next year, Thai News Agency reported.

He also urged all sides to stop commenting on the 4 ministers joining Palang Pracharath Party while still holding their positions, revealing that they will resign once they complete their work.

He added that they can continue with their ministerial duties if no campaigning is done during their working hours. There might be comparison about the advantages and disadvantages so they have to be careful.

“The four ministers have confirmed they will not resign their positions as they want to complete the work they are responsible for, but when the time comes they will resign,” he said.

According to Bangkok Post at Palang Pracharath Party’s first general assembly last Saturday, Industry Minister Uttama Savanayana was made party leader, Science and Technology Minister Suvit Maesincee was named deputy leader, Commerce Minister. Sontirat Sontijirawong was appointed secretary-general, and PM’s Office Minister Kobsak Pootrakool was given the role of spokesman.

Regarding former street protest leader Suthep Thaugsuban, who is co-founder of Ruam Palang Prachachart Thai Party, and who early this week canvassed for members  which was seen to be akin to campaigning even though this party has not got the approval from Election Commission (EC), Wisanu said he does not want to comment on the action of any political party or politician

Everyone has to be careful of what they do and take responsibility of their action and it is at the discretion of the EC what action it  takes, he added.
