Woman falls down road drain in Trang

Another woman has fallen victim to a road drain in Thailand. There are many old road drains and manhole covers in Thailand left unrepaired until someone gets injured and the story goes viral. More accidents occur as the rainy season approaches and the roads are flooded due to the road drainage systems not able to dewater rainwater from the road on time. People cannot see the broken drain and end up injured. The latest victim to broken road drains is a woman in Trang Province.

The woman just had a meal in the main city of Trang, she was walking on the road and fell in the broken drain. The Khaosod News Team received complaints from Kampanat Inthong, a member of the Trang Municipality on 22 June 2020. Miss B was walking to her car parked on the side of the road when her right leg stepped into a broken gap on the drain. The road drain was 1.20 meters deep, the gap was big enough for the leg to go in but too small for Miss B’s body so she ended up stuck and was bleeding. The road drain was located between the Lemon Joice and a motorbike shop in the main city of Trang. Miss B ended up with a large cut on her right leg from her knee to her feet.

There are several more broken road drains on the same road. Miss B was with her family when the incident took place. The husband and son helped pick Miss B up and took her to the hospital. Kampanat received a notification about the incident. Locals are afraid that similar accidents will happen if the damaged road drains are ignored. The member of the local government has placed traffic cones on the broken drains and has notified the municipal road technician to come to repair the drains. The repairs are expected to be completed within 2 days.
