Woman finds King Cobra sleeping on her bed.
A woman was shocked to find a king cobra sleeping on her bed. The local rescue team was notified on 2 November 2021 at 20.30. The team along with snake experts went to a home located in Makam District, Chanthaburi Province. The woman is Janhom Bamrungchai 55 years old the owner of the home. Janhom stated a big cobra snake slithered into her home and was now on the bed. Officials arrived at a single story home and Janhom was waiting outside, still shocked by the recent discovery. The team went to her bed and slowly lifted the mosquito net before pulling off the bed sheets. The king cobra was found in the corner between the bed and the corner of the room.
Thanks to expertise the team then slowly grabbed the snake’s head and pulled it off the bed. The king cobra was captured while still calm and before it had a chance to attack anyone. The snake measured out to be 3 meters long and in healthy condition. One of the officers placed the snake down before it slithered into a plastic box. This is a natural instinct, the snake feels safer in a small, dark, space. The snake will be held for a while before being released back into nature. Janhom the owner stated she was walking to the bathroom when a big snake entered her home and moved to the bed. She noticed it was hiding under her pillow. Thankfully Janhom was walking to the bathroom and spotted the snake. She was about to shut off the lights and go to bed.
Janhom informed other family members of the snake before notifying the rescue team. A member of the team from the Chanthaburi Snake Group stated locals can expect to see more snakes as it is breeding season. This usually takes place at the end of the rainy season to the beginning of the cold season in Thailand. Locals are advised to clean their home regularly as snakes like cluttered areas. If a snake is spotted, do not attempt to catch or remove the snake by yourself. Always notify the officials as the snake may be venomous. In this case if Janhom had gone to bed as usual it could have ended with death.
