Airline launching flights from Korat soon

A THAI airline that concentrates of flights from Thailand to China is helping build up tourism in Nakhon Ratchasima, colloquially known as Korat, by launching flights on two routes from this northeastern city soon, INN News said today (Oct. 3).

Jarurnpong Sornprasit, Chief Executive Officer of NewGen Airways, said after holding talks with senior provincial officials and the private sector that the two routes are Nakhon Ratchasima-Phuket and Nakhon Ratchasima-Chiang Mai.

The airfares will be close to the domestic market rates and this new service from Nakhon Ratchasima province should be launched in December.

Mr Jarurnpong added that his airline is in the process of applying to fly these two routes which will take not less than two months and is also waiting for renovation of Nakhon Ratchasima airport runway to be completed.

The airline did not take very long to work out the routes and sees that this province, which has the second-highest population in the country after Bangkok, has good potential as it has lots of tourist attractions.

Nakhon  Ratchasima’s commercial airport was built by Gen. Chartchai Choonhavan’s government in 1993 with a budget of 470 million baht. It’s runway is 45 meters wide and 2,100 meters long and suitable for international flights.
