THE Labor Welfare and Protection Department (LWPD) today (August 8, 2018) explained a regulation that employers must follow in an interview with the Thai-language daily Matichon.
Under the Labor Protection Act of 1998, the employer who wants the employee to work overtime for more than two hours must let the worker take a rest for no less than 20 minutes before doing overtime.
“However, this break may not be imposed if the employee agrees to work continuously or in emergency cases,” said LWDP Director-General Ananchai Uthai-pattanacheep.
Employers who violate the regulation face a maximum fine of 20,000 baht.
For more information, contact the LWPD hotline at 1506, extension 3.
