PRIME Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha and Russian President Vladimir Putin set a target to increase trade value by five times in five years at bilateral talks held at the sidelines of the BRICS summit in China today (Sept. 5), Thai News Agency said.
Both leaders appreciated the development of relations between the two countries over the past 20 years with the Thai side eager to push forward negotiations on free trade agreements between the two countries.
The two leaders also agreed to set up a Thai-Russian working group to develop trade and investment in the Thai Eastern Economic Corridor with Prime Minister Prayut inviting Russian private sector to invest here particularly in an aircraft maintenance center.
The Thai Prime Minister also called for increased cooperation on both military and commercial technology transfers.
