Thai products zoom across the world through key site

AS Thai products have become very popular among its neighboring counties because of the quality, the Thai government has been pushing its products further worldwide through online trading.

The move has met with reasonable success as the government, through the Department of Internal Trade Promotion (DITP), has reassured buyers worldwide by screening only quality products to be offered online.

Right now, through border trading, Thai products have generated demand among consumers/buyers in Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar and Vietnam for their superior quality so much so that there are a lot of fake products being produced to compete against them.

The DITP therefore decided to help expand Thai products through E-commerce and promote them in the global market through its website, which has become popular among online shoppers in many countries.
The department found that the number of online stores and shoppers at had increased significantly during the first half of 2017 as these shoppers found it very convenient to shop online.  Now the number of online-stores at the site has risen to over 20,000.

According to the DITP’s statistics, the site had attracted over 3,000 purchasing orders from 58 countries during the period while around 26,000 buyers and sellers have established contacts.

During the first half of this year, online trading value through this site is estimated to be more than 13,000 million baht.  As of now more than 120,000 potential buyers have already registered at the site. The top three sectors of interest to buyers are automobile, furniture and food & beverage.

However, according to Google Analytics, there were around 500,000 accounts visiting during January- June 2017, with 6,000,000 times search for information from the website. The top five countries doing their searches at are India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, USA, and Iraq.   Top product categories which people search for are food & beverage, beauty, agriculture, gift and premium, handicraft and home and decoration.

The DITP will use these statistics and information to promote E-commerce and online business by launching effective online marketing strategies to serve the target groups. will also constantly provide information and marketing analysis done by experts through its E-newsletter, as well as intensive training course as to how to use online media to maximize online business benefit to those who signed up with the site.

It said once becoming a member, they are eligible to apply for various activities organized by such as business matching via its online support team available through live chat 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Membership subscription is free of charge.

Overseas buyers can also rest assured of the quality of products bought from as all sellers on the site have been verified.   This is the perfect way to make sure the stores on the site are legitimate ones selected throughout Thailand, it said, adding that the stores are also more than happy to help improve buyers’ shopping experience or even answer any queries buyers may have about their products.
