Human smuggling group arrested, funded by Chinese call center gang.

A human smuggling group has been arrested for illegally bringing in Chinese citizens through Thailand. The group is funded by a Chinese call center gang based in a neighboring country. Provincial Police Region 3 in Nakhon Ratchasima is responsible for arresting the suspects. Police Lieutenant General Somprasong Yentuam and related officials reported the arrest of the human smuggling group on 22 May 2023. On 31 March 2023, police arrested a Thai suspect in Ubonratchathani Province that have smuggled 3 Chinese persons into Thailand. 

 

 

Then on 17 May 2023 based on information from the previous arrest police arrested 2 more Thai suspects wanted by arrest warrants issued by the Ubonratchathani Court. The 3 have been working together to smuggle in Chinese persons. Each of the suspects is responsible for different tasks in the group. There are Chinese people who want to enter Thailand through natural passageways. They will then travel to a neighboring country at Mae Sot District in Tak Province which is their final destination. About 2-3 vehicles are involved in the operation. One car will lead to check for any traffic stops or police present. 

 

 

The payment is usually at least 10,000 THB per Chinese person. Investigation revealed that the suspects were planning another delivery in Ubon Ratchathani. The Chinese people want to travel up north and cross the border. Police followed the vehicles and arrested the suspects in Wang Thong District, Phitsanulok Province. There were 4 Chinese persons inside a Toyota Vigo. All suspects have admitted to the crimes and are facing charges relating to human smuggling. The 3 Chinese persons were also arrested with charges relating to entering Thailand illegally. All suspects have been delivered to Ban Yang Police Station in Phitsanulok waiting for prosecution.
