Thai woman abused by boyfriend found dead in Oman

THE BODY of a Thai woman who has been missing in Oman for over three months was found burned on hill in Salalah after she went to see her Bangladeshi boyfriend there with other Thais mentioning that she had suffered severe physical abuse, TV Channel 7 and Amarin TV said today (Feb. 24).

The parents and friends of Nong Mind, 29, travelled to Bangkok from Lampang and yesterday asked Paveena Hongsakul Foundation for Children and Women for help in finding her as she had not contacted anyone back home for over three months. Before Nong Mind disappeared, she sent word to her friends that her Bangladeshi boyfriend, who worked in Oman, forced her to take drugs and severely physically abused her.

Paveena had made an appointment to take her parents to the police Foreign Affairs Division at 4 p.m. today to ask Interpol to help track her as soon as possible.

However this morning Facebook page user Khadeeja MadamOman Alhashmi said in a post that she was asked to help coordinate in finding Nong Mind and was able to reach Na, the last person to have seen her on Nov. 30, who said she had been badly beaten up.

She then combed through Nong Mind’s Facebook page to search for evidence, reading every post and checking every comment, then got in touch with Or.

Last Thursday Or gave her a lot of information, particularly photos of Nong Mind’s boyfriend and his mobile phone number. MadamOman asked her husband to hand in this evidence to Omani police in Salalah.

Then on Friday Or got in touch again and told her the physical abuse Nong Mind suffered led to her death and her boyfriend then took her body up a hill, placed a sofa over it, and burnt it.

At 5.21 p.m. the same day Omani police sent a message through MadamOman’s husband that the body found on the hill was that of Nong Mind.
