Police seize 10 million speed pills worth 1 billion baht

POLICE have seized over 10 million amphetamine pills worth over 1 billion baht in Samut Prakarn and arrested a major drug agent, Thai News Agency reported today (Nov. 21)

National Police Chief Pol.Gen. Chakthip Chaijinda said Mr Pongkorn Phraworn,22, was arrested at  a rented house in Bang Phli, Samut Prakran, after the seizure of 10,310,000 amphetamine pills in Metropolitan Police Division 8 area with the suspects mentioning that they had got it from Pongkorn who was a big drug agent.

Pongkorn confessed that this lot of amphetamine pills was still being sold and his job was to deliver it to the client.

He also got a phone call from a client after his arrest asking to buy amphetamine pills in Bang Na-Trat Soi 53 which led to the seizure of another 500,000 pills.

Pol.Gen. Chakthip said this lot of drugs came from Wa and Muser tribes who sent them to Thailand via various channels with there being a resting point in the central region.

Some of the drugs are sent to clients in Bangkok and neighboring provinces with this totaling 200,000 pills a night and the rest sent to the South and overseas.

The National Police Chief added that he has increased checkpoints and X-ray machines in the Northeast because drug traffickers have changed their route from the North to the Northeast.
