Govt agencies told not to remove late King’s portraits
PRIME Minister Prayut Chan-ocha has ordered all governmental agencies and units not to remove the portraits of the late His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej and Her Majesty the Queen from their offices until there is an instruction from the government about the change of wordings to be used with the portraits, Thai PBS quoted government spokesman Lt-Gen Sansern Kaewkamnerd as saying on Saturday.
He reiterated that the government had never instructed governmental agencies and units to remove the late King’s portraits from their offices as widely shared in the social media. He also appealed to netizens not to share such false statement.
Lt-Gen Sansern said that if any government agencies wanted to attach white and black cloth below the portraits which might require the temporary removal of the portraits, they must do it quickly in order not to cause misunderstanding that the portraits were removed.
Meanwhile Chalermpol Malakham, a famous singer from the Isan area of the country who is known mostly for Luk Thung and Mor Lum styles, has composed and sung a new song in honor of the late King which is being widely shared online, Thai News Agency said today.
Chalermpol, 54, who is also a village chief in Ubon Ratchathani province, said when he heard about the demise of the late King he felt confused with his hands and feet turning numb so he picked up a pen and composed this song to show he feelings for the late King’s kindness in taking care of his subjects for as long as 70 years during which he never let them down.
Although the majority of Chalermpol’s songs are in Thai, he often sings in Northern Khmer as well, Wikipedia said.
