Heavy fog disrupts Songkhla flights
SOUTHERN Songkhla province was enveloped in a thick fog this morning (Nov. 7) leading to flight delays while Surat Thani province is bracing for a depression to roar in today, Thai News Agency reported.
The fog in Songkhla was so heavy 2 flights leaving Had Yai airport were delayed by an hour with one heading for Bangkok and the other Chiang Rai at 6.20 and 7 am respectively.
A little later at 7.25 am a Nok Air flight from Bangkok could not land because of poor visibility and had to go around and finally landing at 8.30 am.
The visibility was so bad in this southern province that the tops of high-rises could not be seen and this sort of weather condition does not occur here very often.
Meanwhile the authorities in southern Surat Thani province have warned people living along the beaches and low-lying areas to be prepared for a depression which is coming in today and will lead to very heavy rain and which will possibly trigger flash floods.
Those at risk were urged to move their belongings to higher ground and move their farm animals to a safe area. They were also told to be ready to evacuate to shelters arranged for them.
