Uproar over woman stripping off at Koh Samui’s Grandpa rock
BEING fiercely criticized online is a foreign woman who climbed up Koh Samui’s Hin Ta (Grandpa rock), which is next to Hin Yai (Grandma rock), and stripped naked to get photos taken because the 2 rock formations are a symbol of the tourist island and there is also a Ta-Yai Shrine, the Thai-language daily Matichon reported today (March 13).
After photos of this naked foreign woman getting photos taken at Hin Ta in front of other tourists spread online, it triggered a lot criticism with most netizens attacking her for behaving obscenely.
Locals said even though in the past they had seen foreign tourists taking inappropriate photos at the two rock formations, none of them stripped naked like this woman did.
Island residents and vendors at this tourist spot want officials to track down the woman and bring her to the Ta-Yai shrine to apologize for behaving obscenely and also consider filing a lawsuit against her for public obscenity.
According to Kohsamuitravelhub.com the two amazing rock formations are at Koh Samui’s south coast where, many years ago, a group of locals made the discovery. The rocks are well known for resembling male and female genitalia
Set on the rocky southern coastline of Koh Samui, these unusual yet interesting rocks are one of the most popular spots on the island. This site is in between Lamai and Hua Thanon, therefore visitors staying at Lamai beach area can easily access the site.
According to several theories, Hin Ta Hin Yai have been formed over millions of years due to the wind and water. Several local tales are associated with the formation of these rocks; one being that the rocks are transformed bodies of an elder couple known as Ta Kang and Yai Riam.
To reach these rocks, visitors need to pass a short narrow passage lined with small shops, souvenir stores and stalls selling many handmade items.
