Rubber farmers see future in durian

RUBBER farmers in the northeastern Thai province of Si Sa Ket have made big success after switching to durian plantation more than four years ago.

In an interview with Sanook.com today (July 4, 2018), Mr Wittaya Wirarat, who heads the provincial chamber of commerce, said 10 rai of rubber plantation have been replaced by durian trees, which are now bearing fruit.

The fruit trees are mostly found in Samkeelek Village in Khun Harn District of Si Sa Ket. The durian can also be found in markets in the provincial city and roadside fruit stalls.
