PM Prayut orders quick flood assistance
WITH many provincial areas now flooded, particularly in the Northeast, Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha today (July 30, 2018) ordered all provinces to quickly coordinate assistance for the flood victims, Thai News Agency reported.
Prime Minister Office’s spokesman Maj-Gen Sansern Kaewkamnerd said Gen Prayut is worried about the people in flooded areas.
He has got a report that the flooding is high in some provinces, especially the Northeast, with houses and farmland damaged and traveling now difficult.
“The Prime Minster stressed that the government and levels of government mechanisms are continuously following the weather pattern because we are now entering the monsoon season and this brings heavy rain to many areas.
“The government will do its best to warn the public on time but if there is a flash flood then it will quickly accelerate relief operations
“People are warned to carefully keep track of the news on floods and only believe government news, not rumors or what is shared on social media, because it could spark a panic. An example is the news that Sakon Nakhon (province in the Northeast) has the heaviest floods in 20 years,” Maj-Gen Sansern said.
