THAI says flight delay not due to pilot protest
THAI Airways International (THAI) said today (Oct 28, 2018) that it was technical problems not a strike by the airline’s pilots that led to a flight from Bangkok to Osaka being delayed on Friday, Thai News Agency reported.
Air Chief Marshal Pratana Pattanasiri, the airline’s chief security officer, came out to explain the situation after news spread that flight TG 622 got delayed because pilots had staged a protest.
This flight, on Airbus A 380 – 800, had been due to leave Suvarnabhumi Airport on Friday October 26 at 11.30 p.m. However technical problems led to a delay to 9.14 a.m. the next day with another A 380 – 800 being brought into service.
THAI Contact Center officials took care of all 397 passengers, informing them of the delay by SMS, email and telephone. Those who urgently had to reach Osaka were put aboard other THAI and allied airline flights while others were given hotel accommodation and served dinner and breakfast.
This delay has also affected flight TG 930 from Bangkok to Paris which will now leave at approximately 8 a.m. tomorrow October 29.
