Thai doctors reveal medicine combination to treat Coronavirus
Doctors from the Rajavithi Hospital have discovered the combination of 3 medicines shown to reduce the Novel Coronavirus symptoms in 48 hours. The doctors used a combination of 3 medicines that successfully improved a patient’s condition after infected with the Coronavirus from China. The patient started showing improvement after only 12 hours and when the 48-hour mark arrived, the test for Coronavirus came out negative. The doctors reveal that the formula needs more research to see if the combination can be used as a standard medication to treating the Novel Coronavirus.
Kraingsak Atipornwanich, M.D., Assoc. Prof. Suepsai Kongsangdao, M.D., from the Rajavithi Hospital in Bangkok, Thai PBS reported on 2 February 2020. The report revealed that the Rajavithi Hospitals successfully healed Pneumonia from the Novel Coronavirus using 3 medications that were able to eliminate the virus from body liquid discharge, mainly from the respiratory system. The patient shows signs of improvement in a short matter of time.
The patient is a 71-year-old Chinese woman from Wuhan with Cardiomegaly. She was first admitted to the Huahin Hospital before being transferred to the Rajavithi Hospital on 29 January 2020. Doctors diagnosed the patient as severe. Before being admitted to the hospital in Bangkok, the patient was given an Antiviral but she only got worse as time moved on. Doctors decided to the combination of these 3 medicines which proved successful as the patient showed positive results in a short matter of time.
The medication used was,
- Oseltamivir, an Antiviral medication that has been used to treat MERS-CoV (Middle East Respiratory Syndrome) a sickness caused by the same group of viruses. 300mg was given to the patient per day.
- Lopinavir, an Antiretroviral medication used for HIV patients. 800mg was given to the patient per day.
- Ritonavir, an Antiretroviral medication. 200mg was given to the patient per day.
Doctors started the medication for the patient from the first day of coming to the hospital. Within 12 hours the fever got better and she finally had the energy to sit again. The test for Coronavirus came out negative within 48 hours. The patient is not yet fully healed, but her symptoms have substantially improved. Doctors in Southeast Asia have been exchanging information on different methods used for patients with the Coronavirus. All in the medical field are doing their best with the main importance of human life in mind. The information will be sent to China for further development. This is not a standard of treating the Novel Coronavirus because it is a fairly new virus and more research is required to confirm the treatment standard.
