Police arrested 89 people in an illegal casino in the Chaeng Wattana area. Even during the Covid-19 situation in Thailand where numbers have been rising along with many cases in Rayong Province are connected to an illegal casino, gamblers are still putting all they have to enjoy good times as usual. Suspects include both Thai and foreign joining in gambling without proper Covid-19 safety measures. Police Lieutenant General Tohsak Sukwimon, Police Major General Samran Nuanma, Police Major General Pattana Petyanawun, and related officials searched a suspicious building with no number in Chaeng Wattana 14, Lak Si District. Police received information about illegal gambling in the building.
Officials found a single-story building in a gated area. They presented themselves and entered the building. Inside were 4 tables used for many types of gambling including Baccarat. 89 gamblers were joining in the fun including 75 Thais and 14 foreigners. Officials arrested all of them before separating the suspects into different groups. Prayut Chan-o-cha the Prime Minister of Thailand has given orders to all related sectors to inspect locations used for illegal gambling. Officials investigate locations based on previous illegal casinos that were discovered with information leading to other locations. The illegal casino in this case has been discovered before and shut down by the police. After a while, they reopened in the same building.
The suspects have been arrested and officials from the Thung Song Hong Police Station have measured the temperatures of each individual. The local public health office has been notified and the gamblers will each receive a Covid test. Hopefully, the recent news of illegal casinos that have been discovered will help remind gamblers to finally stay home. It is for their good to protect against the virus and to also protect others from Covid-19.
