500+ abandoned cars removed from Bangkok roads.
Bangkok removes over 500 abandoned cars parked in the city. Those who help locate abandoned vehicles will receive 50% of the fine. Sakontee Pattiyakul the Deputy Governor of Bangkok and related officials have inspected roads and public areas in Chatuchak District to report on the process of cleaning the city. Municipal officials, Mechanical Engineer Division Officials, Public Cleansing and Public Park Section Officials from the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, Public Works Department Officials, and Police from the Phaholyothin Police Station have helped remove abandoned cars from Ratchadapisek 32, Chatuchak.
Police General Aswin Kwanmuang the Governor of Bangkok has given orders to sectors responsible for the cleanliness of the city. The Metropolitan has received many complaints from Bangkokians on abandoned vehicles parked across the city. These vehicles have blocked traffic for a long time and are a risk to the safety along with increasing the risk for violent activity. This is the 3rd time the Deputy Governor has visited Chatuchak to check on the process of removing abandoned vehicles. There are currently 400 abandoned vehicles in Bangkok and the Municipal has found 126 more, a total of 526 vehicles that must be removed. So far, 337 have been successfully removed and out of the number 333 vehicles were removed by the owners of the cars.
Chatuchak District has 33 abandoned vehicles. The district has made an announcement to remove the vehicles. Officials have also asked locals to confirm that they are in fact abandoned for a long time without care. So far 15 vehicles have been removed in the district. Officials have sent documents with orders to remove vehicles to 2 more owners but there is currently no answer. The Phaholyothin Police have been notified to see whether the vehicles are tied to an ongoing case. Separate reports are filed with the police before all abandoned vehicles are removed. Those who help the Municipal locate abandoned vehicles will receive 50% of the fine if the owner can be found according to the Act on the Maintenance of the Cleanliness and Orderliness of the Country, B.E. 2535.
