DSI to probe actress Tangmo Nida’s drowning death
THE Department of Special Investigation today (Jan. 22) accepted the case of late actress Pataratida Patcharawirapong, or Tangmo Nida, drowning in Chao Phraya river during a speedboat trip in February 2022 for investigation but it is as yet not in the category of a special case, Amarin TV said.
DSI’s Director-General Pol. Maj Yuthana Praedam assigned Pol.Maj.Nathaphol Disayatham to gather evidence, information and obtain all facts to possibly identify other suspects not already prosecuted.
The investigation has a timeframe of six months but could be concluded sooner if enough evidence is found.
If evidence indicates that a criminal offence has been committed and this should be considered a special case it will be taken up by the Special Case Committee to consider accepting it as such.
However if evidence indicates that state officials had committed an offence then DSI would have to send the case to the National Anti-Corruption Committee to handle.
This followed Mr. Panathep Puaphongphan, dean of the College of Oriental Medicine, Rangsit University, posting a Facebook message that DSI has accepted this case.
Panthep and his team had earlier reenacted Tangmo Nida’s drowning to prove that it was not an accident but premeditated murder.
Among the team were five Miss Grand Universe contestants and a diving instructor.
The five friends who were with Tangmo Nida when she drowned in Chao Phraya river on Feb. 24 are Ms. Idsarin Juthasuksawat, or Gatick, her manager; Ms. Wisapat Manomairat, or Sand; Mr. Nithat Keeratisuthisathorn, or Job; Mr. Paiboon Srikanchananan, or Robert or Bird, the amateur skipper; and Mr. Tanupat Lerttaweewit, or Hi So Por, the speedboat owner.
Two of them, Tanupat and Paiboon were given suspended sentences after the former had confessed to recklessness and the latter to running a speedboat without a licence.
