Pattaya lockdown a success with no traffic.

Pattaya is in Lockdown with good cooperation from the public and a good management system that has resulted in traffic-free roads. The lockdown is expected to successfully help minimize the spread of Covid-19 in Chonburi and Thailand. During the opening and closing times of Pattaya, the checkpoint proves a success with officials making sure that any persons who enter Pattaya have no fever, those with a fever are sent to a hospital right away.

Sonthaya Kunplome the Mayor of Pattaya and other related officials went to inspect the checkpoint on the road leading into Pattaya. The first checkpoint is located in front of the Maryvit School, Bang Lamung District, Chonburi. The inspection revealed that there are no issues and traffic is moving as usual with no long waiting times. There are clear divided lanes into Pattaya, into other areas in Chonburi, leaving Pattaya, leaving Chonburi, and more. These lanes help eliminate unwanted traffic and only those heading into Pattaya need to be scanned with an infrared thermometer and present officials with their ID card. There are several checkpoints along the way.

The people are cooperating and understand the importance of the lockdown. Most have prepared their ID cards before even reaching the checkpoints. Citizens that have a temperature over 37.3 Celcius are allowed to rest for a while before rechecking their temperature, if the temperature is still high then they are sent to the Bang Lamung Hospital. Those with fever will receive further testing from the doctor to see whether they are infected with Covid-19. The Mayor of Pattaya stated that the clear signs and instructions prove a success as most people driving by will read and understand before arriving at the checkpoints, eliminating any miscommunications with the working officials.
