11 citizens have filed for use of Medical Marijuana within 3 days.
Thailand is making a big step towards Medical Marijuana legalization. Beginning from 27 February 2019, citizens can file for the use and possession of medical marijuana within 90 days. Because this is a big leap to the Thai medical world, especially to patients who can greatly benefit from the new exemption from guilt in special cases of medical marijuana use, the Thai Food and Drug Administration has opened up a hotline number where citizens can inquire more information. Thailand has enforced 3 Notifications of the Ministry of Public Health that aims toward the legal use of medical marijuana, specifications need to be met for the green light in owning or using.
The hotline number at 1556 was a huge success as people were lining to have their questions answered by the FDA. In the first 3 days, beginning from the 27 of February, about 2,000 calls came in to through the hotline. The 27th alone received almost 900 calls with 4 citizens filing for the use of medical marijuana. On the 28th, 500 calls were made to the FDA hotline with 6 citizens filing for the use of medical marijuana. The 3rd day on the 1st of this month over 530 calls were made to the hotline. Together 11 citizens filed for the use of medical marijuana, 10 out of the 11 were current patients in different hospitals.
Similar questions were asked from citizens with interest in the possession or the use of medical marijuana. This includes questions on growing medical marijuana, the importation of medical marijuana, and the exemption of guilt in using medical marijuana.
