IN a big success against retail narcotics trade within the city 191 police today (August 7) smashed a drug ring active in Ladphrao-Wanghin area after arresting two suspects, INN News said.
Pol. Maj. Gen. Surachet Hakphan, head of Patrol and Special Operation Division police (191 police), said Thanakorn or Tum and Mana or Ball were arrested as key suspects in the drug network.
Seized from them were 950 grams of crystal methamphetamine (ice) and 1,368 grams of powered ketamine plus 300,000 baht in cash, gold ornament, a car, two motorcycles worth altogether around 4 million baht.
Pol. Maj. Gen. Surachet said his team raided and arrested Thanakorn from his house in Ladphrao-Wanghin area after discovering that he was behaving like a retail drug dealer. This led to the arrest of Mana whose job was to deliver the drugs. They are chasing Ms Panida Yaemkayay or Namwan, the big drug dealer in Chokchai area, who is on the run.
The head of 191 police division has noticed that drug dealers have now changed and trade in various ways with orders being placed both online and by post. They also fill the drugs in small packages which make them easy to retail.
The powered form of ketamine, which goes by the street name ‘Special K’ and is a tranquilizer most commonly used on animals, is new here and is popular with youths partying in pubs.
