20th X-ray Outlaw Foreigner raids net 72 suspects
TOURIST Police linked up with officers from several units in mounting the 20th X-ray Outlaw Foreigner crackdown overnight with 72 suspects arrested from 75 targeted places nationwide, INN News reported this morning (Aug. 10, 2018).
Pol Maj-Gen Surachet Hakphan, deputy chief of Tourist Police, said of the 72 suspected rounded up, 11 had overstayed and among them were an Uzbek who had overstayed for 2,002 days in adjacent Chonburi province, a Finn for 1,101 days in northeastern Udon Thani province, and an Indian for 1,057 days in Bangkok.
Among the 46 foreigners held for illegal entry 23 were from Myanmar, 9 from India, 7 from Cambodia, 5 from Laos and 2 from Vietnam. Also arrested were 15 other foreigners on various charges.
Of the 75 targeted areas raided 3 were international schools, 2 language institutes, 13 general schools and a mixed bag of 57 other places.
In the 34 rounds of these raids 4,159 targeted areas have been searched and 1,904 suspects arrested.
Joining Tourist Police in last night’s raids were officers from 191 Patrol and Special Operations Division, Arintharat 26 SWAT team, a special commando unit from Bureau of Narcotics as well as policemen from Central Investigation Bureau, Immigration and Chana Songkram police station.
