Baby dolphin calf found dead in Prachuap province
A local in Prachuap was taking a walk on the beach when she discovered a young dolphin laying on the beach. The dolphin was discovered on the 23rd of this month but it is estimated that it had been dead for at least 3 days.
Workpoint news was notified by Pornparn Pimsenayu 42 years, a local saleswoman in Prachuap. She was taking a walk on the beach when she noticed a dead dolphin on the beach. The dolphin has washed ashore in front of Pracharat park on the beach and appears to be around 2 to 3 years old. The dolphin had many scratches and cut marks all over its body and the tail, the skin has also begun to distend after rotting on the beach for at least 3 days.
At first glance, the dolphin may appear similar to have met a natural cause of death from running ashore, but upon closer inspection, the scratches and cuts appear to may have come from local fisherman. The dolphin may have been caught in one of the fishing nets that ended up killing it, the dolphin then later washed ashore from the water rising.
The news team arrived at the location one hour after being notified by Pornparn. At the time, no officials responsible were at the scene to inspect or to clean up the dolphin.
Pornparn reported that she was taking a walk on the beach to look for shells to sell on the same day. She started to smell something rotting, so she followed the scent until she discovered the dead dolphin on the beach. She then took a picture and sent it to her friend who is a DJ. Her friend notified the media companies and responsible officials to come and clean up the body as the dolphin was stinking up the beach.
