Cave water level remains unchanged
DESPITE more pumps being brought in to draw out the water from Tham Luang cave and safely bring out the 12 young soccer players and their coach still trapped inside, the level is practically unchanged having only dropped very little, Thai News Agency reported this morning (July 5, 2018).
Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation’s Deputy Director General briefly told the press that the water level has dropped very little and rescuers are trying to find out why this is so even though the inflow is being diverted.
Lots of pumps and a pipeline are already in place and there is an attempt to cut off the flow completely but this can only be done up to a point.
There is a rush to resolve this problem and safely bring out the boys and their coach, he said, adding that Thai and foreign reporters stayed all night at the entrance of the cave to follow the latest developments.
Meanwhile Minister of Tourism and Sports Weerasak Kowsurat went to send off Robin Charles Harper, one of the 3 English divers who came to help the 12 boys and their coach, at the airport last night and gave a certificate to thank him.
