Crackdown on pawnshops with high interest
POLICE in the northeastern Thai province of Nong Khai today (June 6, 2018) arrested six pawnshop managers who charged their clients a high interest rate of six percent per month, the Thai-language daily Matichon reported.
Many of these pawnshop clients are university students who need money to pay for their tuition fees.
Police charged the pawnshop owners with violating the pawnshop business law, and seized 60 mobile phones and 20 laptop computers from their shops.
