Engineer arrested selling pirated movies worth 21 Million THB.
An engineer has been arrested for selling pirated movies and adult videos worth a total of 21 Million THB. Police Lieutenant General Jirapat Puridej and Police Major General Puttidej Bunkrapue gave orders to related officials from the Economic Crime Suppression Division (ECD). ECD arrested Sarayut 40-year-old and Nanthapa 42-year-old. The suspects were arrested in a home located in Bangkok Noi District in Bangkok. Evidence included 139,500 DVD/Blu-ray disks, 1,200 adult video DVDs, 8 computers, 66 DVD and Blu-ray writers, and 18 printers. Together the evidence is worth more than 21 Million THB.
Investigation started when officials discovered the website Blurayman.com that sells a large selection of DVDs and Blu-ray discs. The website has been selling online with Thai and international movies including adult videos. Officials then discovered where the website was operating from, a home on Charansanitwong Road. A search warrant was issued leading to the arrest. The home is used as a major base where all the pirated information was stored before writing onto the discs. Sarayut admitted he graduated from Computer Engineering and knows how to make websites. He made the website and then downloads the movie files from torrent websites. He would then write the files onto the discs.
The website also generated revenue from ads. The suspect further reveals the money is transferred into 5 different bank accounts in another person’s name. The accounts are purchased off other persons. He has been doing this for 5 years and sells 5,000-6,000 discs per day at a price of 60-170 THB. The website makes around 3 Million THB a month. Nanthapa is an employee who works as an admin responsible for taking orders and delivering the products. The suspects have been delivered to the ECD waiting for prosecution.
