‘Ghost of a widow’ terrorizes village
VISITORS driving past Na Chuekyai Village in the northeastern Thai province of Nakhon Phanom are surprised to see large phallic symbols displayed in front of all houses.
According to the villagers, the wooden symbols are there to prevent the ghost of a dead widow who allegedly comes at night to take away the souls of sleeping men. Already five men had died in their sleep during the past 30 days, villagers told Sanook.com today (Feb. 26).
To ward off the ghost, the remaining 83 men now don female attire, wear a long wig and paint their lips in red before they go to bed.
