Good price for Thai mangosteen
After the past two dry seasons, mangosteen planters in the southeastern Thai province of Chanthaburi are smiling again, the Thai-language daily Khao Sod reported Yesterday (Dec 24, 2018).
With more rain and soil improvement, the price of their first crop is expected to be around 300-400 baht per kilogram.
Low in calories and high in fiber, mangosteens have lots of essential nutrients, but no saturated fats or cholesterol. The potassium content helps control heart rate and regulate blood pressure, which in turn aids in stroke and coronary heart disease prevention, said the paper.
