Governor gets ‘Likes’ for biking to work
LOEI Provincial Governor Chaiwat Chuenkosum has earned instant fame on Facebook after one of his followers posted a picture of him biking to work every day, the Thai-language daily Matichon reported today (Dec. 15).
With a backpack slung over his shoulders, the bespectacled governor pedals to and from work from Monday to Friday. “It’s a good exercise, and I can help reduce pollution in the city,” he told the paper.
His photos have been shared by over 100,000 Facebook members, who praise him for showing his concern for environmental protection in the northern province, which attracts thousands of visitors who trek up the famous Phu Kradung National Park each year.
