Husband kills wife, father-in-law at hospital
A YOUNG man distraught over lingering family problems burst into a hospital in central Nakhon Pathom province and shot dead his father-in-law and his wife, then tried to commit suicide by shooting himself in the temple but survived and is in coma, the Thai-language daily Matichon reported today (June 15).
Pol Col Phaithoon Phithaktham, the head of Mueang Nakhon Pathom police station, rushed to Nakhon Pathom Hospital at 12.52 p.m. today after hearing of the shooting and found a .38 revolver at a blood-splattered area next to the pharmacy and in front of the gynecological examination room.
Dead at the scene of the shooting were Mr Samphan Thanamsi, 62, the father-in-law who was shot through the left temple. Near him was Miss Thanyamart Thanamsi, 30, his daughter who was shot several times on the left chest and arm.
However Mr Chaiyaporn Chaowanakamol, 32, the son-in-law who shot himself in the right temple with the bullet coming out at the left survived and is in coma.
Also slightly injured were 2 women waiting for treatment, Mrs Duangluk Siriphichtrakoon and Mrs Suriwan Phanthasingh, but they have been allowed to return home after getting treatment.
Eyewitnesses said Thanyamart had got up and tried to run away after her husband shot dead her father, but he kept shooting at her until she dropped on the ground. There were also bullet holes in the wall of the gynecological examination room.
