Lane-change cameras catch almost 100,000 offenders
AFTER 4 days of vigilantly monitoring traffic at 15 spots in Bangkok, the Lane-Change Camera System has caught 96,830 traffic offenders for switching lanes and overtaking at key bridges, underpasses and intersections, Thai News Agency reported today (May 14).
Introduced on May 9 to reduce accidents in the metropolis, traffic police said the number of offenders dropped by as much as 30%, or 800 vehicles, on the first day.
The 3 areas with the most traffic offenses are Din Daeng junction with a total of 11,037; Siriraj bridge on the Arunamarin side with 10,932; and Huay Kwang underpass where 10,713 offenders were caught .
