Lightning damages insured warehouse

LIGHTING during the heavy storm from last night to early this morning tore the roof of a large warehouse in Prachinburi’s Muang district triggering a fire which the owner managed to put out quickly, Thai News Agency said today (June 4).
Vorapoj Metheneekornchai, 60, the owner of the company that owns the warehouse together with insurance officials checked the damage at the warehouse this morning and found that the roof had been ruptured with there being burn marks and also the area where computers were located with this occurring at around 1 am.

It is suspected that the lightning triggered a short circuit and fire which spread to cartons holding paper. The estimated damage is 5 million baht but this company has insurance cover for 97 million baht.

Meanwhile in Ratchaburi at 10.30 am today a house in which an 86-year-old elderly woman was living alone caught fire but luckily she managed to escape safely.
