Lottery gamblers arrested in southern Thai town
A GROUP of people gambling on lottery numbers were surprised by a group of police detectives who stormed their shophouse this morning (March 28).
According to the Thai-language Daily News, police in Muang District of the southern province of Prachuap Khiri Khan found a hidden room filled with 22 lottery gamblers behind a shophouse.
Gambling is illegal in Thailand, but the Government Lottery Office is permitted to sell government lotteries.
Illegal lotteries, or “huay,” are popular among a large number of Thais, as they earn more from winning numbers.
By the way, the gambling den is located just 50 meters from the police station.
