Netizens help find 2 children kidnapped from mall.
The online community helped find 2 children who were kidnapped from the mall. The kidnapper took the children from a mall in Phra Khanong to Sanam Luang. Police Major General Sopon Sarapat from the Thai Metropolitan Police Division 5 received a report from Police Colonel Wachirakorn Wongbun from the Phra Khanong Police Station that the investigation police from the station and officials from the Chana Songkhram Police Station have arrested Chaiyo 27-year-old the kidnapper south of Sanam Luang on 2 January 2020.
An 8-year-old female and B 7-year-old male went to a mall in Sukhumvit 50, Phra Khanong, Bangkok. Both children regularly visit this mall with their grandmother as it is near home. When the mall closed down for the day both children did not return. Viroj the father of B went to file a report with the Phra Khanong Police stating that his son and granddaughter were missing. The father also posted online asking netizens to help search for both missing children. Investigation Police at the station reviewed the security footage from where the children were missing.
A Facebook user contacted Viroj with pictures after he spotted the children in Charansanitwong 34. The netizen purchased food and snacks for both children as they seemed tired and hungry. At the time this netizen didn’t realize the children were kidnapped but later found Viroj’s post searching for the children. Shortly after, another netizen contacted a page on Facebook stating that he spotted both children near the Navy Club on Napralan Road. Police tracked them down to Sanam Luang near the Supreme Court. Both children were found walking next to the suspect. All details matched what police found on the security footage. The suspect has been delivered to the Chana Songkhram Police Station.
