PM Prayut visiting US next week
IT is now certain that Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha will be paying an official visit to US as invited by US President Donald Trump next week during October 2-4, Thai News Agenery said today (Sept. 26).
Senior ministers accompanying Gen. Prayut on this trip, which is being made at US President Trump’s invitation over a phone call on April 30, include Deputy Premier Somkid Jatusripithak, Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai, Interior Minister Anupong Paochinda, Commerce Minister Apiradi Tantraporn and Deputy Defence Minister Udomdej Sitabutr.
The two leaders will focus on cooperation on both security and trade, economy and investment with there to be an exchange of views on regional issues.
Prime Minister Prayut will also be holding talks with representatives of the Thai private sector in US while the US Chamber of Commerce and the ASEAN-US Business Council will be hosting a dinner in his honor.
Thai-US relations started in1832 when the Treaty of Amity and Commerce was signed by His Majesty King Rama III and US President Andrew Jackson and it has continued to develop to this day with the relations now covering all dimensions such as security and military, economy, science and technology and health.
