Police tighten immigration procedures
IN the wake of a spate of explosions and discovery of explosive devices the Immigration Bureau is tightening immigration procedures at all airports and border checkpoints nationwide. Thai News Agency said today (June 2).
Pol. Lt. Gen. Nattathorn Prousunthorn, chief of the Immigration Bureau, said security units already have measures in place to maintain safety for the public at various places especially airports which are run by the Airports of Thailand Plc but he has ordered immigration police to more strictly look out for suspects wanted under old arrest warrants.
He added that he has also liaised with neighboring countries to look out for people who might want to come and cause trouble in Thailand.
However Pol. Lt. Gen. Nattathorn refused to comment on who could be behind the string of explosions within the country pointing out that it is the responsibility of police investigators to track them down.
Regarding First Army Region Commander Lt-Gen Apirat Kongsompong visiting Cambodia Pol. Lt. Gen. Nattathorn said there is no special information about his trip to divulge as yet.
