Progress in medical marijuana
The Pharmaceutical Organization of Thailand (POT) said yesterday (May 16, 2019) that the first batch of 140 medical-grade marijuana plants grown in its laboratory are blooming.
“It will take about 8-10 more weeks before we can harvest them and produce marijuana oil for testing on patients,” said Dr Sopon Mekthon, who is the president of the Pharmaceutical Organization of Thailand (POT). “This is a delicate issue and we must ensure that the marijuana oil does not contain any harmful substances.”
According to Dr Sopon, his organization has already received the consent of the POT’s ethical committee to proceed with testing.
