Thieves snatch durian from vendor
THE price of Thai durian is quite high this year, and that might have encouraged two thieves to attack a durian stall in the tourist town of Hua Hin last night, the Thai-language Daily News reported today (June 7, 2018).
“I was talking to a customer when a man riding pillion on a motorcycle snatched two durians from my stall and sped off,” said durian trader Ekkapol Kerdlamjiek. “I yelled for help and the pillion rider dropped one of them.”
The durian they took weighs around 6 kilograms and is priced at 1,000 baht, said Mr Ekkapol.
The two thieves are caught on CCTV and police detectives are looking for them.
For those unfamiliar with the durian, it is an oval spiny tropical fruit containing a creamy pulp. Despite its fetid smell, it is highly esteemed for its flavor.
